The
Important Question of Quality
I
know that the degree of love, attention and
awareness that goes into the development
and creation of any-thing in this physical
world is of utmost importance and is the ultimate determining
factor for the purity, usefulness and excellence of
that Creation.
I think it goes with out saying that Supplements and Natural
Health products are as subject to this Universal Law as anything
else
you see
in
the
world around
you.
On
this basis my intention in developing each product and health
program, in sourcing the ingredients,
in determining the manufacturing environment and procedures
and even in the design of the labels and choice of bottle
or container... It is all done with a high
degree of focus on quality and a focus on creating something
that will perform the task it was designed for. My belief
is that if it doesn't do that to the best of it's capacity
then
there is
no
point in
making it and there is certainly no point in you taking it.
The Quality of
these products are as good as I can make them at any given
time. I say "at any given time" because I am constantly on
the look out for better quality ingredients,
improved proportions, combinations and formulations, and
anything else that will enhance the
quality of the product at hand. To me this is vital. The
things I create are not "static" creations. They are as "living"
and dynamic as the Inspiration and knowledge I receive on
an ongoing basis pertaining to their evolution and improvement.
Just
what does this all mean in practical and grounded terms?
It means
that each product is made in professional facilities
with
New
Zealand
M.A.F. (Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries)
certification and the
internationally recognised G.M.P. Standard (Good
Manufacturing Practice) which when properly implemented
demands the highest possible
standards...
right down to the building being supplied only with filtered
air.
Each
product has to pass an independent Bacteriological
test before it reaches your hands
The
plant based ingredients are certified organic or
wild-crafted when ever possible - or
non-certified organic where necessary. Sometimes I simply
can not get an organic ingredient so I select the best
source
I can
find for
a non-organic ingredient. I then continue to search (globally)
for organic
ingredients to replace the non-organic ones in future
production runs
I
go to great length to ensure that ingredients are
free from Genetically Modified materials - GMO FREE
The
herbal extracts are non-standardised
extractions of
the whole plant material which provides the
full broad range of biochemical
components each herb has to offer.
My view, and that of most
knowledgeable medical herbalists, is that the
standardisation of herb extracts is a "pharmaceutical
approach" to
herbal medicine that does not
consider
the intrinsic balance and natural "intelligence"
within each plant - a balance that has resulted
in the natural
composition of that herb material. I consider that "natural
composition" to
be superior
to a standardised extract where
one chemical has been selected out as more important
than
the rest.
I suspect
that this is something that is not yet understood
by the
promoters of standardised extracts and that more
people will see the light
of truth in this over the years to come
The
herb extracts I select are generally
produced by relatively small companies that are owned
and operated
by people
who are dedicated
to the love and discipline of
making exceedingly high-quality extractions which
make the
most
of what
each plant
has to offer us. The herbs generally
undergo a lengthy production process
(taking many
weeks and even months
when required)
which applies the specific techniques
that bring out the best of each
plant.
If
any particular ingredients needs special handling and packing
requirements to maintain its potency and quality then I make
a point of taking these steps whenever possible.
Let me give you an example:
IntestoLin® contains flax seed meal which
is a highly sensitive ingredient. The special health giving oils
in Flax seed meal
will break down very quickly when exposed to oxygen, heat and
light. For this reason the flax seed meal I use is cold milled
in a
nitrogen atmosphere and sealed in an airtight bag for transportation.
When it reaches the bottling plant it goes into refrigeration
until we are ready to use it over the next day or two. it is
then mixed with the other ingredients in a nitrogen atmosphere
and
packaged
into
black plastic pots (to block light) with a final nitrogen flush
being applied. A specialised oxygen absorber also goes into the
pot to help soak up any traces of oxygen and to also continue
protecting the product once you open it.
This is not a cheap
way to make this product and I am not aware of many companies
that will go to this length to ensure you get the maximum benefit
from something as healthy as flax seed meal. What's more,
they will not bother to tell you that the Alpha-Linolenic Acid
in flax seed, which they promote as being so good for you, will
pretty much have completely deteriorated by the time you even
get to
try it.
Wherever
possible (which is almost always) I avoid the use of animal
derived ingredients in those products that
don't specifically need to have them (Colostrum Powder, for instance,
has to come from animals!!). I take this step because I
feel it ensures the products are free from the various
diseases that
animal derived ingredients can carry (such as Mad Cow Disease)
and it may also spare
the
life of the animal in question or at least not support the devastating
conditions many of these animals are generally raised under.
It also ensures that the products are completely vegan and
suitable
for
people
with those dietary preferences.
I
will not say that my products are the best that the
could possibly be as this would simply not be true and I
don't think it is even close to true for almost all the products
you see out there. It would be fantastic if they were but
all I can honestly say
is that
they are
as
good
as I
am able
to
make them based on the knowledge and means available. The
on-going advancements in technology and new health discoveries
along with the availability of ever improving raw materials
all mean that over time each product can always be improved
-
and that
is
exactly what I aim to do with them.
